In their prime the Zulu’s conquered every tribe close to them and even defeated elements of the British Army. The efficiency of the Roman Legions is legendary. The Spartans were rarely defeated in battle. What do these societies have in common? Each had warrior mentalities—and they trained and drilled until their battle skills were perfected. In modern times, firearms have replaced the gladius and assagai, but one thing, which has remained constant, is the need for training. Plain luck notwithstanding, he who is the most skilled with his weapon will prevail. However, even firearms are a small part of the overall picture, as good tactics are also desperately needed to survive.
