editorial overview

The Federal Violent Crime Control Act of 1994, commonly referred to as the Assault Weapons Ban, has ceased to exist. As of September 13, there is no longer such a thing as "pre-ban" and "post-ban" rifles and high-capacity magazines. For most areas of the nation, there is simply "no-ban."

Congress, thanks in no small part to this being a major election year, allowed this ridiculous piece of legislation to "sunset." While many Congressmen would have voted against either renewing the ban or making it permanent, quite a few simply did not want to grab onto this political hot potato with their jobs on the line. It is you, the responsible citizen who goes with pride into the voting booth on Election Day, who has made this possible. The battle, however, is not over.

It is likely that sometime after the first of the year certain individuals in the House and the Senate will attempt to pass new legislation against "assault weapons." In this issue we have articles on two AR-15-type carbines and a bolt-action precision rifle adopted by the FBI which is available for purchase by anyone. If you think that only the ARs will be subjected to new anti-gun legislation, think again. There is already talk from the radical left that "sniper" rifles should be included in the next ban they are planning. That will not only include the rifle adopted by the FBI, but will very likely include your dad's "deer rifle." Make no mistake, the Brady's, Feinstein's and Schumer's of this world don't want some guns outlawed they want all guns outlawed!

With the War on Terror continuing, this is likely to be the most important Presidential Election of our lifetimes, if not in history. The seats up for election in the House and Senate are equally important. Do your duty on November second get out and vote.

Free men own firearms, slaves don't. You decide which one you want to be.

The LMT Monolithic Rail Platform Carbine
Lewis Machine and Tool (LMT), has a unique approach to the free float rail issue. They recognized that add-on free float rails all had to be attached in some manner that would often compromise something–height above bore, weight, stability, etc. Their solution was an integrated upper receiver/rail–the Monolithic Rail Platform (MRP).
