editorial overview

"Beware of the man with one gun. He probably knows how to use it." Although this old adage is normally meant as a caution when confronting an adversary, with the proper training you can be the proficient person people talk about.

Whether your objective is to hit a bullseye every time at the range, or prepare for a sudden, life-threatening attack, good training is the key that can unlock the door towards that goal. With that in mind, we are proud to present six articles on training and tactics is this issue.

Training and the right equipment, however, are the just hardware necessary to get the job done. Of equal (if not greater) importance is the software. You can purchase firearms and all the training courses that money and time will allow, but if you do not have the proper mindset then everything else will be in vain. One must not only act tactically, one must think tactically. Towards that end, each month we proudly feature columns from three of the most well known cogitators to ever set foot in the tactical arena: Louis Awerbuck, Jeff Gonzales and Brent Wheat. Food for thought in these columns this month cover topics including complacency, the thought process while under stress, and the fine art of deception to reach a tactical objective.

All this and much more awaits in our August issue.

Strategic Self-Defense And Grappling Tactics:
Survive The Streets
It has been said that when all you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail. While firearms are useful tools for self-defense, unarmed tactics should not be discounted. Training in a dojo is fine, but the SSGT system has proven itself in the harshest classroom around--the streets.
