As we head into the fourth year of the new millennium we can expect to see many changes—some good, some bad.
The Good
On the training front, at least two large schools dedicated mainly to tactical training will be opening.
On the
Western side of the country Valhalla Shooting Club expects to open their doors in Colorado in early spring. On the Eastern front, Blackhawk will be commencing training at their facility in Virginia.
This issue features a preview of what Valhalla will have to offer, and we'll evaluate Blackhawk's facility as
soon
as possible. Our readers have come to expect nothing but the truth from S.W.A.T., and even though we have Staff and
friends at both
facilities, you can rest assured we will point out the possible pitfalls as well as the good at both schools.
The Bad
In addition to good schools, you can expect some of questionable parentage to pop up as well. Training has
become a virtual cottage industry over the last decade or so, and some instructors' only claim to fame is that they
have attended a class or two from some of the more notable academies around the country. It is up to
prospective students to make sure they get their money's worth. Training in poor techniques and tactics may be worse
than no training at all. Caveat Emptor.
