editorial overview

Sorry, we can’t keep it a secret any longer—S.W.A.T. is the finest firearms and tactics related magazine on the market. Period.
And where do manufacturers want to advertise so serious shooters will see their products? That’s correct, right here. Consequently this issue rapidly filled up with advertising, but when numerous ads began to encroach on editorial space, our Publisher banged the gavel: “Add eight more pages for articles. Give our readers what they want!” Although this represented substantial additional overhead in printing costs, it was done without passing on additional cost to our readers.
This year the 1911 pistol will be ninety-two years young. Thought by some to be past its prime, it is still the first choice of Spec Ops operators, and is even being adopted by some law enforcement agencies as a “new” service pistol. A special report in this issue goes behind the scenes of the Tacoma, Washington Police Department in order to find out why this old war-horse was recently issued to all sworn officers in that department. A special side-bar includes a brief review of the Kimber Classic II 1911 pistol adopted by the Los Angeles Police Department’s SWAT Team.
Need to learn how to use that new pistol in the most efficient way? This issue also has an article the on International Tactical Training Seminars firearm school, and much, much more. One look at this issue will reveal why serious shooters read S.W.A.T.
