editorial overview

Having the luxury to kick back in your favorite recliner and play Armchair Quarterback is a wonderful thing. A favorite topic over the last decade-and-a-half (that has been rehashed to death) is the shooting involving two determined criminals and the FBI in Miami, Florida.

Another is the high school shooting known colloquially as the Columbine Massacre. Whether you are in the camp that believes the officers on the scene acted appropriately or not, it did point out the need for patrol officers—as opposed to a SWAT team—to act immediately and aggressively (with a minimum amount of support) if an incident such as this occurs. This type of training is addressed in the article Rapid Deployment for Patrol Offices in this issue.

This month’s cover feature is the Kel-Tec SUB-2000 rifle. Buying one off the shelf from a dealer, we put this neat little gun through its paces and not only found out what works on it, but what doesn’t.

Also in store for readers of the June issue are firearm evaluations of the new Browning double-action Hi-Power Compacts, The TUBB 2000T Tactical Rifle and U.S. military precision rifles of the past. Training-type articles include an article by Ashley Emerson on how to become a better field shooter, TFTT’s High risk Environment Course , Morrigan Consulting's two-man team tactics class and much more.
